Our 5-Year Vision: Going Deeper, Reaching Farther

Our mission at Windsor Community Church is to “lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.” This mission, along with our core values, drives our ministries and activities as a church family. Every year the pastors, deacons, and Community Group shepherds prayerfully evaluate the past year and seek God’s direction for the year ahead. Every few years we take a look further into the future and ask the Lord to give us clarity concerning where He is calling us, so that He will be most glorified through WCC. As we discussed the next five years, there was a clear sense that God is calling us to Go Deeper and to Reach Farther…

Going Deeper (Acts 2:42-47)

Since Windsor Community Church was launched in 2001, God has been uniquely shaping the “DNA” or makeup of this church. We are a church that values not only reading and studying God’s Word but encountering God in His Word, not only knowing about God, but knowing and pursuing intimacy with God. We also value authenticity, relationships and community, purposeful living, and impacting the world around us. Many of these values are what drew you to be a part of this church family. As we look prayerfully to the future, we do not sense that God is calling us to change who we are, but to simply Go Deeper. Our desire is that this church body be the most loved, best fed, and most practically equipped people on the planet. We desire WCC to be a place where lives are continually transformed and every person is encouraged to live their lives for the glory of God in total dependence on Christ who is the head of the church. We desire to be a church community where each person is encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with Jesus Christ, encounter the living God in His Word, develop relationships with those who are without Christ, experience dynamic community within the body of Christ, use his/her gifts to serve the body of Christ, and be proactive in multiplying his/her ministry!

Reaching Farther (Acts 1:8)

As we seek to Go Deeper, we believe the Lord will enable us to Reach Farther in impacting the world around us. We long to be a church where each person is praying for and actively engaging his/ her sphere of influence with the message of the gospel. As a church, we believe God is glorified when each one of us is desperately dependent on the Holy Spirit while praying for and reaching out into our community (our families, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, etc.) as His ambassadors. God is also glorified when we take what He is doing in our midst and multiply it through the planting of new churches. We desire to be a church where people are dependent and powered by the Holy Spirit while being equipped and sent out in support of these endeavors. We desire to be used in seeing God’s kingdom expanded, not only in Windsor, but along the Front Range of Colorado, across the U.S., and around the world. We strive to be a church that prioritizes its resources toward this end.

Over the next five years, we will be prayerfully evaluating our ministries and decisions in light of our mission and core values. We will also be prayerfully asking Him for refinement of this vision and greater clarity as we move forward in the mission He has given us. Proverbs 16:9 states, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” This is an exciting season for us as a church family, and we can anticipate much growth in our lives as we take this journey of faith together!

Vision StepS

In order to Go Deeper and Reach Farther over the next 5 years, there are five key areas where we feel the Lord is calling us to focus our energy.

Moving to a New Facility

We believe that a church building is simply a tool that helps our church family accomplish our mission of “leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.” It is perhaps one of our most effective tools enabling us to gather in corporate prayer and equip God’s people. We desire to build a functional and visible facility on our 15th Street property that will not only be a “training camp” for the equipping and building up (Eph. 4:12) of believers, but also a place that is known and used by the community at large. This will not be your traditional Church building that is used only on Sunday morning and a few times during the week for youth group and Bible studies. Yes, these gatherings are great and necessary, but we also want to use this facility to reach the community by providing needed services and functions that enable us to build redemptive relationships. Imagine a facility that has a specific and purposeful area for accommodating special needs children, so that their parents can worship undistracted knowing their precious ones are cared for. Imagine a wing with equipment used to train young athletes in the areas of speed, strength, and agility, helping them realize and maximize their God given abilities. More importantly, let’s train them up to be godly (1 Tim. 4:8). Let’s make this facility available for weekly gatherings of groups not affiliated with WCC, such as Rotary, Chamber after hours, book clubs, boy scouts, etc. We will not only let the community use our facility, but we will bless them while they are here by providing coffee, snacks, and a 1st class ambiance. We are now preparing the next steps to move forward in the building of a permanent facility which include:

  • Continuing to raise the funds needed for construction
  • Establishing and finalizing the design of a new building

Caring for the needs and Equipping of the Church Family

In order to Go Deeper, we will need to prioritize and care for the needs of our own church family; Equipping and encouraging each person for the life of purpose God has called them to. This will include taking the following steps…

  • We acknowledge our desperate dependence on the Holy Spirit; therefore, we will encourage and equip every believer to continually pray and seek God for every decision in their lives and ministries.
  • Enhance our practical “life-equipping” forums for marriage, parenting, finances, and relational evangelism.
  • Continue to prioritize the “Essentials” class to facilitate a unified church family.
  • Invest in men…for the purposes of healthy marriages, families, and churches.
  • Cultivate a passion for the mission that Jesus has given us, encouraging all to see themselves as missionaries to their families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and areas of influence.
  • Strengthen the community group ministry by providing better equipping and support for our small group leaders, as well as continually multiplying these small groups to assimilate new people into these environments of lifechanging community with other believers.
  • Continue to raise up leaders from within for the shepherding and counseling needs of the church family and add staff as the Lord leads for growing ministries and areas of need.
  • Raise up and prepare youth leaders for the influx of kids who will be moving up into youth ministry over the next five years.
  • Prioritize and invest in families with young children by continuing to provide an excellent Children’s Celebration experience on Sunday morning as well as starting a “mom’s group” for equipping, refreshing, and reaching out to moms with young kids.
  • Build a dynamic and Christ focused music ministry, while cultivating a high view of God-centered worship as an integral piece of our personal lives as well as our corporate gatherings.

Encouraging a “Missional” Lifestyle

One of our core values is relational evangelism; we believe that God’s message of forgiveness through Christ is most effectively conveyed within the context of personal relationships. Therefore we will continue to encourage and train each person to Reach Farther into their own sphere of influence by the taking the following steps…

  • Develop forums in our church body for praying for our community and those with whom we are building relationships.
  • “Profiling” and sharing testimonies by those who are living out this “missional” lifestyle and seeing God’s merciful hand.
  • Regularly profiling “ministries” such as the weekly high school ministry, nursing home visits, and neighborhood gatherings such as barbeques and cookie exchanges, so that others can catch the vision and come alongside these existing opportunities or pursue ideas and “outreaches” they are passionate about.

Expanding our Current Training, Sending and Supporting Capacity

Ever since the birth of WCC, God has given us a focus on raisingup leaders and sending them out into our community or to start new churches. We will take purposeful steps in the following areas in order to multiply new churches and reach people with the gospel…

  • Celebrate, pray for, and serve the churches the Lord has already allowed us to plant or partner in planting.
  • Re-launch our Pastors Institute.
  • Actively pursue new opportunities for planting or partnering in the planting of churches along the Front Range, which could involve both people and/or resources as the Lord leads.
  • Send summer teams to Czech, Greeley, and/or Wilmington (and other “sister” church locations) to provide ongoing support for our church planters.

Sharpening our Focus for Missions

As God enables us to Reach Farther, we desire to see our heart for world missions grow and to have a greater focus for where the Lord desires to use us. Missions would be in each person’s DNA as a prayer intercessor, a sender, or one who is sent out. This will include the following purposeful steps…

  • Develop forums in our church body to pray for the nations and the persecuted church around the world.
  • Partner with other Crossway churches to help see churches planted in the Czech Republic and other places around the world by equipping national leaders, sending people, and investing resources.
  • Create opportunities for short term missions.
  • Continue to invest in the expansion of the Gospel by pursuing opportunities to take the Gospel to “unreached people groups” throughout the world.
  • Continue to set aside 17% of general giving so that we continue to prioritize reaching our world as much as our own church programs.
